In 1993 CR Construction Co. was founded in order to fill the demand of numerous clients in the field of railroad construction and maintenance. CR Construction is a subsidiary of Columbia National Group. The company is led by General Manager Steven Estok, who has been with CR Construction for over 25 years. CR Construction is committed to satisfying the needs of both public and private railroad companies in the Northeastern U.S. and are devoted to completing each job in a safe and efficient manner. CR Construction provides our customers with experienced personnel who take pride in delivering quality service and workmanship in all areas of railroad construction and maintenance.

What was a positive outcome of the railroad?
Railroads were effective, reliable, and faster modes of transportation, edging out competitors such as the steamship. They traveled faster and farther, and carried almost fifty times more freight than steamships could. They were more dependable than any previous mode of transportation, and not impacted by the weather.

One thing that makes railroad transport so good is the lower costs it has on longer trips. Although road transport is better for short trips in terms of cost, railroads cost significantly less the further they carry a load. This is due to their higher upfront cost but lower per-mile costs.
